another lag thread

the lag on this game is getting worse.

you are not going to find a bigger fan boy of this game than me. i bought the action figures, tshirts, video games (ps3, ps4, psp) i have a coffee cup with the helghast logo on it. i always tell my halo friends that they should drop halo and play killzone.

but god d@m n it!!! the lag is so bad the game is unplayable. unless you are on the beneficial side of the lag of course.

what i'm experiencing:

players not going down when a full clip is put in them

players shifting from side to side by a half inch on the screen in rapid succesion.

players appearing on screen out of nowhere killing you with one shot then zip away

one hit deaths (not headshots)

can't pick up beacons

opponents entering base camp getting a kill or two before the base turrets take them out

i'm still going to play this game. i believe GG has a good product. but if killzone is going to have a future, GG and Sony need to come together and work out these internet issues.

i don't know what the solution is. i'm not a software person or am i computer savvy.

perhaps a ping filter in game?

i don't know if GG reads these posts but if you do please at least give this one some consideration.

forever a killzone fan

Re: another lag thread

They should have added more servers and optimized their lag compensation algorithm much earlier.

Now you can easily dominate if you have very low ping while others in your game have very high ping.

Ofcourse, the ppl who teleport are the ones who generally have very bad UL/DL speeds and packet losses.

Spot on!  My ping rate is consistently in the range of 4-16 ms to the east coast GG servers, and I also live on east coast. If A players ping rate exceeds 100ms they should be kicked or moved  to a sever that better matches their ping rate.

Re: another lag thread

So I wanted to find out just how much lag time there is from when I see an opponent on the TV to when I get a hitmarker on the opponent. Here is what I came up with.

Starting at the “player” and ending at the game server. Time in milliseconds

Gamer               : Average reaction time 253ms, my time. ( check your time here:

                                                   http://www.humanbenchmark.com/tests/reactiontime )

PS4 controller   : bluetooth 2.1 ( 1 ms )

 : USB wired ( 1ms )

 : Polling rate ( 4ms )

TV                     : Input Lag: 24.3 ms, my TV   ( KDL55W800B-55  )

  http://www.rtings.com/reviews/tv/lcd-led/sony/w800b

  http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/input-lag

Network Ping    :  (wired) 14ms to a east coast Shadow fall server, playing on

   the east coast.

That brings us the total latency time from “seeing the opponent” to “shooting the opponent” of 296.3ms or roughly one third of a second.

that's pretty cool.

this game has so much good going for it. the graphics are incredible, the story line is cool, the helghast logo and red eyes are freaking awesome!, all this and the main topic of conversation is the lag.

i'd hate to see such a great game die due to internet connection or server issues.

i took the test and im 280. That means i got slower reaction time than you yet i would win vs your clan even on AUS server lol. SONS beat iNk 5-0 with 350 ping so yh... the lag is real, but no point crying about it.

Re: another lag thread

I don't think he is crying about it.  He is just concerned about preserving what is left of the player base in this game.  The game is fun but to have the outcome be determined by the connection and not a player's skill is frustrating (even the Kid feels this way, see his post).  Anyway, go flex your muscles in front of a mirror where someone that actually cares can see.

one time i was on the beneficial end of the lag:

i couldn't miss! headshot? BOOM! hell yeah. walk into a room and melee four in a row? SLASH! hell yeah. grenade kills when they aren't even close? POW! hell yeah you bet. move faster than the rest of the people on map? ZIP! hell yeah no doubt. not very often i am on the beneficial side of lag. ended the game with a 4.3 kdr. while the game was fun for me it was no fun for the rest of the people playing.

and that's my point.

it won't be long before all but the hardcore fans will leave. there aren't enough of those fans to keep this game alive. i want to see killzone games for the next decade or two.  we need more people. watching someone transport out of nowhere kill you and transport out is no fun.

and for those who don't know me... i'm not a 4.0 kdr player. i'm not even a 2.0 kdr player. on my best day i'm 1.0.  so yeah the lag affects the game and its players.
