Thank you for all your replies so far!
The good news is, because of your replies we've been able to identify a clear pattern in the crash data and a number of possible causes. The bad news is, some of those causes may be unique to specific PlayStation 3 hardware revisions, but hardware model numbers aren't recorded in the crash logs.
So to all of you who have reported crash times, I would like to ask you for one more favor: could you post your PlayStation 3 hardware model number in this thread? The model number consists of the last 7-9 characters of the PS3's serial number, which can be found on the back of the device. Each model number starts with CECH, followed by 3-5 letters and numbers (e.g CECHA01, CECH2101A, etc). This will let help us determine where we need to concentrate our efforts.
Thanks in advance,

KZ3 frozen and shutdown at 21:23 & 21:30 GMT.
Background - only started have issues with Killzone after PS3 patch 4.30.
4.30 wiped out an upgraded HDD. Reinstalled old and got system up and running again.
Whilst trying to install 1.14 controller would not work when agreeing to install 1.14. Eventually worked but now system is giving black screen. Every so often I will get language selection screen, once I started to get running script but again system froze.
Hope this helps.
