I got my KILLZONE yesterday and man am I happy! The feel of the game is so different from other shooters like BLACK and COD, or any other . Everything feels heavy! The environments are great , but I threw one grenade in the second level and it got stuck in the roof! that was annoying, also the framerate suffers some times. That aside, i AM HOPING THERE WILL BE MORE SEXY ENVIRONMENTS AHEAD!
Well, played more levels and One thing that made me totally stop and stare was the awesome Lighting in the interior levels, with the broken roofs and the sun streaming in were bloody beautiful, reminded me of HAZE ! Great work Guerilla , never seen such lighting on a ps2, not even GOW II !
One thing did bother me that while the gameplay in the outer areas and open areas has fair variation, once inside its just shooting one group of Helghast till someone shouts,"Here they come!" and some more Helghast appear bunched together so that u can kill them all with one grenade from ur ISA Assault Rifle. It gets repetitive after a while.
Also the Helghast don't come after you once they have spotted you. They just stay at their position and wait for you to reappear. That was annoying, when I would wait for them to charge at me.
But , again, it looks and feels so different that I can't stop playing it at night. Also, I am waiting to play as other characters, waiting to see how they come into the story.
So, bye Guys! Captain Templar will report again when he gets to play again! ;-)
OK ! Now is the time when I take back all the complaints I had made about KILLZONE ! It did get boring with Corridor upon corridor of killing Helghast, but as I was about to say ,"Now I know why people don't like KIllzone", I was stopped short and left my mouth open by the HELGHAST SLUMS level !!
Man ! that level is B E A U T I FU L ! Suddenly, my whole expression changed( I just didn't like the park level) The gameplay changed for good and turned out to be a lot of fun, and I love the colors of the Helghast Slums level. Love u Guerilla for making that and The Mall after that and most of all the DOCKS! Level after level of awesome art design and Gameplay. Now, the Helghast are smarter too, they charge at me , try to find me while I reload, so, I take back that they are totally stupid. Looks like they have notched the AI a bit low for the initial levels. Now it seems fine. Also , I love playing as different characters, add a bit of change to it. Like the way Rico hates Hakha, when I am playing as Hakha. At one poit he said," Hey, Hakha, Those elites look like ur mother!". ....
Love the way, Guerilla kept the Sci-fi element in control. The slums look like they are out of Star Wars , but still we are not shooting lasers or hiding behind forcefields. that is what I like!
Also, the docks feel so good, everything is so detailed in all the levels that I couldn't find anything off, no texture nothing. I can play the docks and the Slums forever !
Thanx Guerilla, I had almost lost faith in the game , but now.......IT ROCKS !
Hell yeah, I'm a late player of Killzone myself and damn I still think it looks good now. Something I wish I did from the start of the game was useing the melee function (this only appears as a symbol at the bottom of the screen when close to an enemy), beat the Helghast down with your rifle!
But the environments are superb keeping the game fresh from wartorn city streets to eerie swamps and the lag is really not that bad considering when you look at what the PS2 is trying to run
Killzone has some framerate problems sometimes, but I really liked it the first time I played it.
The only thing that bothered me was the enormous enemy health. The only thing that can kill an enemy with a single bullet is the sniper rifle.
That aside, Killzone is a great game and I`m planning on getting a new copy since the one I have doesn`t work.
